EB-2 NIW: National Interest Green Card

The EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) is one of the most sought-after visa categories for qualified professionals who want to live in the United States without depending on a job offer.

This visa waives labor certification, which is PERM, and employer sponsorship, as long as the applicant can show that their work has substantial merit and a direct impact on the national interest of the United States. It is an excellent option for entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals, and specialists in strategic fields.

To qualify, the applicant must hold a master’s degree, a Ph.D., or equivalent professional experience, at least 5 years in an advanced role, or meet 3 out of 6 exceptional ability criteria.

The applicant must demonstrate their relevance and impact through concrete documentation, such as publications, awards, recommendation letters, work on critical projects, or innovations. This visa allows the applicant to include a spouse and children in the process, with access to a green card.

It is ideal for those who want to immigrate independently, with more control over the process and without relying on a U.S. employer.
